Step Into My Sessions: Visuals to the Rescue: From Social Learning to Brittany’s Tides

Visual Supports: So helpful for our students, and for me, parking in Brittany where tides are massive!

I’ve been thinking lots about visual supports since I have a couple of speaking gigs next week, updating presentations to make sure they have my latest ideas 💡 – and visuals – for my audiences. One topic I often include is the power of games.🎲 ♟️

Learning new games can be challenging, even if they are super fun and cool. To support our students, remember those VISUAL SUPPORTS!

I know they can be time-consuming (and even annoying) to make, but those visual supports can make all the difference. Here are some of my favs:

Directions made visual 👀

so you aren’t always reminding students what various things mean, what the rule is, etc. I love cutting up directions. Then students can play more independently and succeed at more challenging games!

Painter’s tape ↘️

to show direction of play let’s students be more independent!

The Great Cheese Chase

Feeling Trackers 📊

to build student awareness of their uncomfortable feelings – those are part of playing a good game!

Feeling Fixers 💬

that provide the bridge to positive self-talk and regulation.
