YOUNG ADULT THERAPY

Young adults often face new social learning challenges in their rapidly changing lives. Whether transitioning to the new responsibilities of college life, coping with new stressors of finding and maintaining social relationships, or looking ahead to the job market, individual or group sessions can help.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

For some individuals, individual therapy is an appropriate intervention plan. Often parents and siblings are included in sessions.

SOCIAL LEARNING GROUPS

Social learning groups are a powerful intervention tool. Children are carefully matched by ability level and interests. During the school year, groups meet weekly. In the summer, more intense social groups are often scheduled. Groups at all ages emphasize building social cognition skills.  Groups often have a secondary focus such as anxiety, depression, anger management or narrative language.

I am SO excited to be working with GametoGrow.org, using their Therapeutically-Applied Role Playing Game Critical Core. Critical Core uses the format of RPGs (DnD is probably the best known RPG) to target 5 Core Capacities: regulation, collaboration, planning, perspective and pretend play. I was a beta tester for the game during COVID, and continue to use it in many of my social groups. I have been absolutely AMAZED at how much the students are engaged and working!

I was lucky enough to get into the first cohort for certification in the Game to Grow Methodology. This has opened up my practice to a whole new format for social learning work - I can't say enough about it! If you are interested in the training, check out their website for more info.
