“In the area of social communication, I happened to stumble upon several courses from Dr. Anna Vagin, who I have to say, has changed the way I look at social communication therapy and how I approach my groups. Dr. Vagin’s presentations did not just talk about what you should do with a group, but she actually walked us through lesson ideas that we could implement the very next day. Her use of YouTube videos to address a vast array of communication goals, is genius. Using YouTube, which is something that the students already know and love in order to target areas of weakness for them, makes total sense. It makes them feel that although they are learning something it still can be fun and entertaining. One of my last courses that reviewed gave us an amazing array of resources to use in groups that weren’t videos. I can’t wait to break out the RPG games in my therapy sessions within the next few weeks and see the look on my student’s faces.
